ILLATION.WORLD takes businesses on a journey to understand their environmental impact, including carbon emissions, at their own pace, and uses behavioural techniques to ensure stickiness.

What is scope 1, 2 & 3?

The GHG Protocol Corporate Standard classifies a company’s GHG emissions into three ‘scopes’.

The World Resource Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development has made some incredible resources explaning in detail what the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is and how it can be used to help a business measure its carbon emissions.

Includes emissions from activities owned or controlled by the academy trust that release omissions into the atmosphere. Examples include emissions from combustion in owned or controlled boilers, vehicles.

Includes emissions from own consumption of purchased electricity, heat, steam and cooling. These are a consequence of the academy trust’s activities but are from sources not owned/controlled.

Emissions that are as a consequence of an indirect source that is not owned or controlled by the institution (SME), and which are not classed as scope 2 emissions.
